At Kyland Cole Construction Group, for us, this isn’t just a business; it’s what we do! It’s family. It’s legacy.
We’re Josh and Quentin Hastings; brothers born 19 months apart, best friends since birth, and lifelong residents of Northern Virginia (and now Savannah for Josh).
But today, our story stretches beyond just one place. From Northern Virginia to Savannah, Georgia, we’re building something bigger than projects and paychecks. This is our story. From being best friends to facing adversity, we have always had a strong bond, and it was fitting that once we both started our families, we finally began a family business together!
We grew up in Northern Virginia, learning early what hard work looked like from our single mom. She was always a hustler and instilled in us the value of hard work that we both carry to this day. Quentin started his first business at just 17, eventually running a landscape construction company while building his experience in the trades since 2007.
Josh took a different path, getting multiple degrees and ultimately teaching and coaching during the school year, and working on job sites every summer. After having his third son and after Quentin found out he was expecting a daughter number two, the decision was made – we need to honor our mom and build a business together (more on her in a second). What makes us such a dynamic team is how well we complement each other in terms of skill sets. Josh has overseen marketing for multi-million-dollar home services businesses and operations for hardscaping, roofing, and construction companies. Quentin has done the same, just in the field instead of the office!
Our goal is to work hard for our clients, whether they live in Pooler, GA, or Gainesville, VA.
You know, when someone says, “I know a guy,” we want that guy to be us!
That said, we mentioned learning hard work from our mom, right? Well, a lot of our current drive stems from 2012, when everything changed. I pulled up to our mom’s house and knew something wasn’t right. Quentin was outside, upset, and only let me (Josh) know she had been diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer. That moment split life into before and after. There’s no blueprint for news like that. What followed were years of shifts in perspective, long conversations, faith, and a growing realization that what we were building – our successful careers – wasn’t ours. We were helping build other companies, other visions, other legacies… but not our own.
As our families grew, starting in 2021, Josh welcomed his third son in 2025, and Quentin prepared for another daughter in June of 2026, the decision became clear. If we were ever going to do this together, it had to be now. Not just to build a business, but to honor our mom, create something our families could be proud of, and take control of our time, our work, and our future. Her dream was always to run a family business where we remodeled, and she got to decorate (seriously). So we built Kyland Cole Construction Group. Not as another contractor, but as a different standard.
Kyland is Quentin’s first daughter, and Cole is a combination of Josh’s three sons. We are a company built on clear communication, fair pricing, and actually showing up. A company that focuses on doing the job right the first time… but without overcomplicating the process or dragging projects out. We specialize in the work we know best: basement framing and finishing prep, flooring, custom trim and shiplap, concrete patios, outdoor builds, sheds, and general carpentry. We can also remodel bathrooms and kitchens and prepare older homes to hit the market. We don’t try to be everything to everyone, and if something falls outside our scope, we refer to people we trust. That’s how you protect quality. That’s how you protect your name.
In 2022, another chapter opened when Josh and his family relocated to Savannah. What started as a life move quickly turned into business growth, and it became clear – the same problems homeowners face in Northern Virginia exist in Savannah, too. Contractors who don’t show up. Projects that drag on. Communication that falls apart. So instead of staying in one market, we expanded. We decided that helping people in Savannah and Pooler was ideal because we were professional, we were honest, and we showed up on time (if you know, you know, right?)
Today, Quentin leads projects and crews across Northern Virginia, while Josh oversees operations, installs, and growth in the Savannah market, bringing the same systems, standards, and family-driven approach to both locations. Two markets. One standard.
And through it all, we’ve stayed grounded in what matters most, doing honest work, building real relationships, and creating something our kids can look at one day and understand what it means to work hard, keep your word, and build something that actually lasts.
We’re not a massive corporate builder. We’re not the cheapest option in town. We’re a family-owned construction company that answers the phone, shows up when we say we will, and finishes what we start.
